Detox Recipes for Clear Skin

Going into high school, I was obsessed with the skincare fads. Being 15, I was acne ridden and struggling to clear my skin. Applying makeup every day was getting tiring, so I wanted to find a way to be able to clear my skin so I wouldn't have to be so worried with my natural look.

Detox water completely transformed my skin. My skin had a plethora of problems, and I was really impatient with my results at first. If I didn't see a change within a few days, I would give up and move on to the next thing. But sticking with detox water is easy enough that you don't even think of it as a chore.

Just remember that consistency is key and that every method might not work for everyone. Don't be discouraged if you don't see results immediately.

Detox water has many different benefits for many different reasons. It's an amazing source of hydration, but you can also create a drink that will taste amazing and have different properties catered to attack different problems. It makes you look and feel great, improving your mood and boosting your energy.

Recipes to Try That Will Clear Your Skin

1. The Detox Refresher

This is a common one that many people find Instagram worthy, and for good reason too. Cucumbers are refreshing, cooling, and revitalizing, compact with vitamins A and C; lemons add a tanginess filled with detoxifying properties that make your skin glow; mint completes the drink with antibacterial components that will protect and rid your skin of acne.

Here's the Recipe:

  • 4-6 slices of Cucumber
  • 4-6 slices of Lemon*
  • 2-4 Mint Leaves*
  • 3 cups of Water

Optional Choices:

*squeeze 1/2 of a lemon into water for stronger flavor; you can either forego adding the lemons after doing this or still add in the lemons after.

*squeeze the mint leaves before adding them into the water for stronger flavor

Review: Being the kind of person who asked for lemons with their water, I greatly enjoyed this drink. It was really refreshing and made me feel awake. I would definitely recommend this as a summer drink, as well.

2. The Red Booster

This drink is already an eye-catcher, definitely picture worthy. The saturated, bright colors will instantly boost your mood and motivate you for the day. Tasty, sweet flavors of raspberry and pomegranate will give you the confidence boost you need. These fruits pack a punch high in anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, which all have many benefits in regards to your health. They are great for keeping hair and skin happy, healthy, and glowing.

Here's the Recipe:

  • 1-2 tbsp Pomegranate Seeds*
  • 5-8 Raspberries*
  • 3 cups of Water

Optional:

*ratio does not need to be exact; go based off of what you prefer

Review: I was really excited for this drink, and I LOVED it. I am a sucker for raspberries and pomegranate, and trying them together was even better than I could've expected. The color was absolutely beautiful and it tasted delicious. It's the perfect drink to get you started in the morning.

3. Vitamin C Powerhouse

Oranges and blueberries are rich in vitamin C, which has many benefits. Vitamin promotes collagen production, which will aid healthy, youthful skin. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant that will help prevent skin damage. Vitamin C also boosts your immune system, prevents iron deficientcy, and many other things. If you are interested in healing your acne scars, this is the recipe for you.

Here's the Recipe:

  • 4-6 slices of Oranges*
  • 5-8 Blueberries*
  • 3 cups of Water

Optional:

*for a stronger flavor, squeeze 1/2 an orange into your water; you can either forego the orange slices or add them in after

*for a stronger flavor, squeeze the blueberries into the water before dropping them in

*for an extra flavor boost, add in a few leaves of basil

Review:
I've never had blueberries and oranges together before, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Their sweet and tangy flavors mixed perfectly to form a tasty drink. I would definitely recommend this drink for any time.

Why try it?

Detox Water drinks are tasteful and are good for your body and mind. If they don't yield the exact results you would like, they are still good for you nonetheless. It will also increase the amount of water you drink, which adds into the many benefits it has. Not to mention, they look pretty cool. There is no reason not to try these recipes.
