by Miranda Kay October 04, 2021 4 min read

Most of us look in the mirror and dream of the perfect, smooth, glowing skin that we see in today's media and magazines. Well, I'm here to tell you that you can achieve your skin goals with the help of one key ingredient: Water! But, you'll need a little more help than just water. Keep reading to find out our tips and tricks!

In case you didn't know, the skin is our largest organ, accounting for 60 percent of our body's water content. Dehydration and damaged skin are inextricably linked, as one might expect. Dehydration may have a negative impact on your health, and your skin is one of your first warning signs. The best method to tell if your skin is dehydrated is to tug it and check how soon it returns to its original form and position. If it doesn't come back right away… well then, you may be dehydrated.

Additionally, dry skin can result in irritation, dullness, dark patches beneath the eyes, fine lines and wrinkles, and sunken eyes. In the meanwhile, you may also experience the signs and symptoms of general dehydration. There may be a variety of side effects, including headaches, dizziness, thirst, and fatigue. It's important to pay attention to signs of dehydration, such as dry skin.

Fear not, dehydration might be a serious thing to combat, but that does not mean it’s not difficult to fight. These tricks will help you refresh your skin once again with the help of hydration!

DRINK WATER AT NIGHT

The night can chain you on your bed and may not let you feel like getting out of it, but drinking a glass of water in the middle of the night may help you avoid dehydration. Even if you're only dehydrated for an hour or two before going to bed, it will have a considerably higher impact on your sleep quality than hydrating beforehand. Also, it helps with your skin too. Dehydration, you see, can cause poor sleeping patterns. Poor sleep results in being dehydrated, like a never-ending cycle. If this cycle harms your body, then you must put all you’ve got to end it. Drink one glass of water and you will increase your chances of getting a good night’s sleep since it helps reduce symptoms such as those that affect our skin.

DRINK WATER WHEN YOU WAKE UP

One of the numerous reasons to drink extra water first thing in the morning is to make your skin better by hydrating it. In order to restore your fluid levels, you must sleep for 7-9 hours every night, which suggests you have not refreshed your fluid levels for a prolonged length of time, right?

Thus, it is very possible that your body will be highly dehydrated at this point in time!

This is why you must put your attention on this issue as soon as possible. Drinking water when you first wake up is the best approach to restore your hydration levels to a healthy level, which will benefit both your skin and the rest of your body's systems. Essentially, you must cure your dehydrated skin from the inside out, and putting in the necessary effort first thing in the morning will provide the most solid foundations for a successful treatment.

LESS CAFFEINE AND ALCOHOL

When it comes to rehydrating your body from the inside out, it's easy to imagine that any drink will do the trick. On the other side, alcohol is known to work as a diuretic drug, which means that it will naturally cause you to feel dehydrated as a result of the increased frequency with which you will pee when drinking it. Isn’t that alarming?

However, anyone who has had a significant drinking session without drinking glasses of water in between alcoholic beverages would understand what I'm talking about. When consumed in large quantities, caffeine is yet another drug that has a negative impact on the body's functions. It should be fine to consume in moderation, but it's critical to avoid the dangers of only consuming caffeinated beverages. Make a point of drinking one glass of water for every cup of coffee or tea you consume during the day, and you should see a difference in your skin in no time. After all, water is just way above everything else in terms of daily consumption.

TRY USING PRODUCTS

It's crucial to take care of your skin from the inside out, but don't overlook the importance of moisturizing your skin from the outside in. Dehydrated skin takes far longer to regenerate than healthy skin. Choose the proper products for your skin type to avoid this from becoming an issue.

While severe facial cleanses might really do more damage than good, simply adding water will not work. Using moisturizers throughout the day is a good idea, but a light exfoliation is considerably healthier for your skin.

All in all, if you want to make sure to treat your dehydrated skin right away, drinking water all throughout the day – morning, noon, and night – is the way to go. After all, water is essential for us because it treats the essential parts of our health in a good manner.
